Official colors of table tennis rubbers

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

You might have seen table tennis and ping pong paddles having coverings on both sides. They come in all kinds of colors. They come in green, pink, blue etc… However, the official colors are red and black only. When you see a racket in the store having red and black color rubbers on both sides, it is more of a legal paddle.

Look at some of the rubbers in the ebay store. They come in red and black.

Big City table tennis balls

Monday, January 25th, 2010

The table tennis balls that you see in the store are 38mm. They are hard to find in table tennis stores because they are not used in tournaments. The ITTF which is the overseeing organization of table tennis has changed the rule in 2000 to use the balls of size 40mm. This new rule has disappointed many players. I have seen serious players buying 38mm to relive the glory they had before the rule change.

I don’t know the quality of this Big City ping pong ball. They are cheaper. You may have to pick the right ones out of the 144 to play. The second hand quality ping pong balls don’t offer good bounce. Sometime this has to do with the table also.
